Veteran actor Nedumudi Venu and famous sculptor Kanayi Kunjiraman were presented with Bharathan awards for the year 2009, yesterday. In the valedictory function of the Bharathan remembrance programme, Director K S Sethumadhavan and K PAC Lalitha presented the award to them. The programme also featured a Bharathan memorial lecture delivered by senior actor Madhu and a seminar on ''Women characters in Bharathan films''. Actress Revathy who also talked at the seminar acknowledged that she owes much to Bharathan for her National award for ''Thevar Magan''. She also observed that much of his films saw life and romance through the woman's point of view. The day also featured Music director Vidyadharan who presented the Hindhola Smrithy a composition based on raaga Hindola which was one of the favourite of the late director who was also a musician. Carnatic vocalist Sreevalsan J. Menon and music arranger P. K. Sunny presented ‘Varsha Sandhya’, a programme based on Bharathan’s favourite ragas.
