Neelathamara Scoring Good Initial Reports

Neelathamara – Kunjimaalu will surely steal all Hearts …..! Neelathamara the story and Movie isn't new, its a remake of the 1979 release Neelathamara Itself but director LalJose execution of the subject takes it to another level altogether. Neelathamara Takes a FRESH LOOK at Love stories Also, for any love story to work wonders, it ought to have the gems to make the viewer jump with Love , emotions romance and participate in the goings-on. And the principal characters here -- Kunjimmalu , Haridas and Ratnam are so real, so natural, so believable and so winsome that the viewer gets absorbed into their world as minutes pass by. Neelathamara directed by LalJose and Scripted By Legend MT Vasdevan Nair has two distinct parts: the first part shows the blossoming romance between Kunjimaalu and Haridas as their reomance develops through the old village heritage home. Picturesque sceneries of the movie neelathamara feature in this first part as well in the songs, particularly the big hit Anurga Vilochana nai done by LalJose with his own Signature

Pazhassi Raja with another record.

Megahit "Pazhassi Raja" has created yet another record. The movie will be the first ever Malayalam movie to be available in the Blue Ray format. This was disclosed by CEO of Moser Baer which has bought the home video rights for the movie. He said that the Blue Ray version of the movie will be available by April 2010. Meanwhile the movie seems to be running successfully in all the 72 centers. Megastar Mammootty and Supreme star Sarath Kumar played key roles in it.

Bakrid fixed releases shifted to December.

It was reported earlier that as many as five movies are planning to be released this weekend and there was criticism about the planning going haywire in Mollywood. However the number of movies getting released is getting lesser as two movies have dropped out. One is "Palery Manickyam" and the other is "My Big Father". While the former is a Mammootty starrer, the other stars Jayaram and "Guinness" Pakru as son and father. Only Laljose's 'Neelathamara' is going to release on this friday. The reason seems to be that Bakrid has a single holiday and with so many movies releasing on the same day, it might augur well for the movies.

Gulumal coming soon !!

Director V K Prakash's first humorous attempt "Gulumal-The Escape",will make a release on this December first week. Planned to release on the fourth of next month, the movie will feature Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya in the lead. Mithra Kurian plays the heroine in the film. The film is about two young men who make a living by silly tricks and their escapades. The music launch of the film, was recently held at Kochy attended by the technicians and well wishers of the movie. An Ad maker turned director, V K Prakash got the much acclaimed National award for his very first film 'Punaradhivasam'. Thereafter, he had been experimenting with his movie like 'Mullavalliyum Thenmavum', 'Police' and 'Moonnamathoral', 'Positive' which presented varied narrating styles and technical wizardry to Mollywood cinema.

Paleri Manikyam shifted to December 3rd.

Mammootty starrer "Palery Manickyam" was supposed to release this week among host of other movies. Now, according to sources, the movie has been postponed. The new release is said to be December 3rd. The reason is not known but the buzz is that the producers did not want this movie to release when Mammootty's megahit "Pazhassi Raja" is already running successfully. Directed by Ranjith, this movie is based on the novel by TP Rajeevan.

Neelathamara's musical success makes more hype to the film.

Vidyasagar's music in "Neelathamara" has already got audiences in tune with the movie. Now, the movie buffs are awaiting the release of the flick which has been directed by Lal Jose. The director is already known for his visual feast in his movies. This remake of a 1979 hit stars Kailash, Suresh and Archana in the lead. Let us wait and watch how the movie fares at the box office.

Pazhassi effect creates records in Box Office.

It requires guts, expertise, patience, talent, knowledge, passion and, of course, heaps of currency to attempt a movie like 'Pazhassi Raja'. When historicals or period movies are considered as a total no-no in the Malayalam film industry, Sree Gokulam Movies idea to spend almost Rs 25 crore on a film could have gone either way. But fortune always favours the brave. The film received an overwhelming response and it has emerged as one of the top grossers in Kerala's box office history. Surely, the audience have not seen something so opulent like this on the Malayalam screen. Pazhassi Raja is a beautiful film with a soul in it and wellmarketed. It has proved that Malayalam also can afford the luxury of producing movies with a Rs 20-plus crore budget. Identifying markets beyond the boundaries of God’s Own Country and tapping overseas potential are two things that Sree Gokulam Movies executed very well, that resulted in the huge success of the movie. "We expect that the film will break all existing collection records of Malayalam cinema within a 50-day run," said Praveenkumar, executive producer of the film. "We have already released the movie abroad and it is receiving overwhelming response in West Asia and the USA. The Tamil version of the movie will be released on Friday and we are hopeful of recovering the production cost within 50 days," he says. Pazhassi Raja's success is also paving way for a new trend in Malayalam industry. It is reported that another movie 'Marthanda Varma' with Mammootty in the lead is on the cards. Its estimated budget, which will be released in both Tamil and Malayalam, is Rs 40 crore. Even with the cost-cutting measures suggested by the Producers Association in existence, actor Dileep’s home production has announced a new venture 'Christian Brothers' with Mohanlal, Dileep and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles. The producers are also looking to rope in a top Tamil actor to play a leading role along with the Mollywood superstars. The action-comedy-entertainer is scripted by Uday Krishna and Siby K Thomas and directed by veteran director Joshy. The mother of all multi-starrers 'Twenty 20' which was released in 2008 was the initiator of the new trend. 'Twenty 20' was an entertainer. But Pazhassi Raja has taken a giant leap both technically and content-wise. Technicians and filmmakers of Malayalam will now have to worry about the quality, technical perfection and totality of the film. A whopping budget alone will not produce a good movie. The coming together of Hariharan, M T Vasudevan Nair, Oscar winner Resul Pookkutty, Mamootty and Sharath Kumar has been crucial in the overall success of Pazhassi. The 'Pazhassi effect' should propel Mollywood to greater heights of cinematic glory.

Raa... the Dark' - Action thriller.

Action thriller 'Raa... the Dark' will be a film with a totally different treatment, the audience could never imagine. Another peculiarity of the film is that there is neither a woman character nor a song sequence. It is directed by debutant Sajan Kurian. Rajeev Madhavan and T.M. Nithin are wielding the camera. Sojan, Sujit and Sajan had written the screenplay. Cast includes Arun, Mithun, Aneesh, Daison, Krishna Dev, Sujith, Sojan, Vaisakh, Ullas, Jinson, Amit, Rajeesh, Randeesh and others. Sujith is producing the film. Pooja of the film was performed in Kochi Tower in Ernakulam. Thrissur will be the location. Tamil, Hindi and English versions will also be taken. 'Pazhassi Raja' Home Video rights to Moser Baer

Producer G. Dhananjayan of Moser Baer Entertainment has made an official confirmation over the acquisition of Home Video rights (DVD, VCD, Blu-Ray and other formats) of Malayalam Blockbuster Film PAZHASSI RAJA. Featuring Mamootty, Sarath Kumar, Suman, Manoj K Jayan, Padmapriya, Kaniha in lead roles, the film is Produced by Gokulam Films. Apart from winning rave reviews and big collections in Kerala box office, the Tamil version too has been witnessing extraordinary results at box office. Says Dhananjayan, Moser Baer Entertainment will be bringing out the film in all formats of Home Video and also in Blu-Ray format for the first time in Malayalam film industry in April 2010 across the World. Moser Baer is proud to have acquired the rights at the highest ever price in home video rights, considering the importance of this title in the history of Malayalam film industry.

'Marthanda Varma'- Mammootty's next historical venture

Megastar Mammootty who is enjoying the mega success of his historical 'Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja' will be seen soon as another historical character of 'Marthanda Varma'. The rumours are that a Chennai based producer has already approached Mammootty to do a bilingual, based on the life of heroic ruler of Travancore 'Marthanda Varma'. Grapevines are that the producer is ready with a forty crore budget for an epic scale recreation and that Mammooty has instantly agreed to be in the movie which may be hits on 2011.

Kavya again to pair up with Mammootty

Kavya Madhavan is making her comeback in the Malayalam industry and seems to have already signed the movie "Christian Brothers". Now, the buzz is that she has been roped in for the Malayalam movie "Pramaani" though it is not confirmed. Directed by B Unnikrishnan, it stars Mammootty in the lead. Sources indicate that Mammootty plays the role of a corrupt Panchayat Leader in this one. However he has some good human traits which are unearthed by the heroine.

Palery Maanikyam-Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha' for Bakrid.

After the mega hit 'Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja' which is continuing with its strong initial pull in 70 centers in Kerala, Mammootty will have another release this month in 'Palery Maanikyam-Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha'. -This investigative thriller directed by Renjith will be the Bakrid offering from the star. The movie which features Mammootty in a double role will have Maidhili and Gowri Munjal as the heroines. Written by T. P. Rajeevan, this period drama will be brought to theatres by Varna Chithra. Meanwhile, 'Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja' is moving towards its fifty days in almost all release centres.

Drona on progress

After completing 'Chattambi Naadu' and some portions of 'Vande Matharam', Mammotty reached the location of Shaji Kailas' film `Drona'. Mamootty arrived the shoot site at Ottapaalam Varikkaaseri Mana along with his wife Sulu. A.K. Sajan has penned the screenplay. The story tells about a demigod character Pattazhi Madhavan Namboothiri. Anandan, Aadi Kesavan and Nandu were desciples of Pattazhi Madavan Namboothiri, who was a teacher of an Engineering college. He too knows about the potential power of ritual acts of body, speech, and mind connected to Tantra and special poojas. They have come to Nelloor mana to perform a pooja to rescue his student Anandan who was enchanted by Maniyangode Gupthan . This Nellur mana is located in Chambara village. This village was under the rule of Maniyagode Gupthan. After the arrival of Madhavan Namboothiri in Chembara, there the atmosphere becomes tense with magical influence. Mamootty dons the role of Madhavan Namboothiri and Bal, Vijaya Kumar and Irshad as his students. Navya Nair appears as Mamootty's wife and Thilakan as Gupthan. Kaithapram has wrote the lyrics and Deepak Dev has scored the music. Kaniha, Navya Nair and Swetha Vijay are the heroines. They are supported by Manoj K .Jayan, Sai Kumar, Suraj, Kollam Thulasi, T.P Madhavan, K.P.A.C Lalitha and others. Ekaambaram is wielding the camera. Under the banner of Aroma Movie International, M.Mani is producing this film.

Hits and Flops.

It is bad news for Mohanlal fans since his movie "Angel John" which is just running in B&C centers just as noon shows, has been declared a flop. "Swa Le" too has not been doing well though experts feel it cannot be termed as a washout. "Kerala Cafe" by Renjith is attracting more viewers with time mainly due to word of mouth promotion. Movies like "Loudspeaker" and "Robinhood" have completed 50 successful days. Meanwhile the biggest hit of the decade is none other than "Pazhassi Raja" which is still running in 70 centers and has collected more than Rs 15crores in just 25 days.

Will the title "Drona" clicks?

"Drona" seems to be a favorite name amongst filmmakers of different languages. A Hindi film in the same name was made with a strong cast but it flopped big time. Then a Telugu movie with the name was made and it turned out to be a disaster as well. Sources claim that it was Priyamani's bikini act that popularized the movie. Now the Malayalam flick with the same name is set to kick off with superstar Mammootty and Kaniha in the lead and fans hope that this one is a hit.

Christian Brothers in trouble.

It seems Malayalam Cinema has finally realised that it's the era of multi-star films that could be safe bets at the box-office. Joshi, the hit-making director who recently gave us Twenty Twenty, in which almost all popular stars came together, had recently announced another multi-star project, 'Christian Brothers', with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep and Kavya Madhavan playing key roles. But even before it took off, Christian Brothers has run into trouble. Produced jointly by Subair and A.V.Anoop under the banner of Varnachitra and AVA Productions, the film invited trouble as it goes against the norms and restrictions of the Producers Association here. The Association has set a norm that no Malayalam film should have a budget of more than Rs. 3.5 crore. Christian Brothers has come under the scanner because Subair, who is a member of the Producers’ Association, has teamed up with A.V.Anoop and intends to make the film at a big budget. The Association has hence refused to give a ‘Clearance’ or go-ahead for the film’s shoot. Subair meanwhile has stated that given the star-cast and the subject of the film, it is not possible to make it at a lesser budget. In the meantime, stars and many others have reportedly come forward showing interest in producing Christian Brothers. Exhibitors and theatre-owners too are reportedly thrilled at the idea of the film, which could make it big at the box-office. The stalemate regarding Christian Brothers continues, and meetings are likely to be held soon, in a bid to resolve the issue in a practical and amicable manner.
Arjun to approach AMMA against Christian Brothers.
Tamil actor Arjun is reportedly all set to register a complaint with AMMA, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes about using his name and photographs in connection with Christian Brothers without his consent or knowledge. There were reports coming in certain sections of the press that Christian Brothers, the multi-star film directed by Joshi and having Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the leads, will also have Arjun in a key role. Arjun, known popularly as 'Action King', has raised objections at this and also at the instance of his photograph being included in the brochures and all made out for the movie. He has reportedly commented that no one has approached him to act in Christian Brothers and all this has happened without his consent or knowledge.

Sathyan 50th Film With Jayaram

Sathyan Anthikkad is getting ready for his fiftieth movie in Mollywood. The movies releasing planned for the Vishu of 2010, the director who is undoubtedly the biggest brand name after the Big M's in Malayalam, is in the final touchups on a special story. This time, the movie will feature the views from a township, telling the stories of people pushed back into the backgrounds of those living with posh life styles. This movie will be told entirely through the viewpoint of a female protagonist, though the director, who is continuing with his success run in the last eight films, has not yet fixed the lady lead of the movie, Jayaram and other regulars of every Sathyan films will have roles in this fiftieth film too. Venu will handle the camera while Illayaraja will be in the charge of music department. Produced by Thankachan Immanuel in the banner of True line, the movie will start its shooting by the second week of January.

Mammootty- Shafi- Benny team for a Hatrik Superhit

The team of Mammootty, director Shafi and scriptwriter Benny P Nayarambalam has already given two successive hits. Now the team is all set for a hat-trick with the movie "Chattambinaadu". Even this movie is expected to be a hilarious one from the team which focuses on the township of Chembada Naadu. Mammootty plays the role of a goon who speaks Malayalam with heavy Kannada accent.
