Chattambinaadu- One Man Show of Mammootty.

Megastar Mammootty is one man who has enough power in him to take the film to a box office success even if the content or presentation is weak. Something like that is said to have happened right now with his latest release 'Chattambinaadu'. Slated to be a routine formula entertainer, the film had nothing new to offer but then audience is keen on watching the film since Mammootty is said to have come up with a fabulous performance and a rather interestingly handsome look.

Malarvaadi Arts Club opens on January.

Malarvaadi Arts Club, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s directorial debut will kick off by the last week of January. The film, a social satire with comedy elements, will introduce many newcomers to Malayalam films. Actor Dileep will do a cameo in the movie. Vineeth, a popular playback singer and actor, is in charge of the scripts of the film and has also recorded four songs of the film.

Mammootty's on a roll- 2009 - With 8 films !!

Megastar Mammootty pleased all his fans with as many as eight of his films releasing in 2009 but the actor says he was just doing his job. The eight films that hit the screens this year were "Love in Singapore", "Daddy Cool", "Eee Patanthil Bhootham", "Loud Speaker", "Kutty Shrank", "Pazhassi Raja", "Paleri Manickam" and "Chatambi Nadu". While the last three films are still running to packed houses across the state, "Kutty Shrank" was screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held recently in Goa and is expected to be released commercially soon. But the superstar was modest about his work in the year gone by. "The world has become one more year older. From my side, I will say that things went well and happiness need not be and cannot be measured about what has happened. I am doing a job and I will continue doing it in the same spirit as I have always done all these years," Mammootty told IANS. Besides his acting assignments, Mammootty launched his own production house called Play House, which will produce and distribute films. The actor was also appointed brand ambassador by the Kerala Volleyball Association to promote the sport across the state

'Ivide Swargamaanu' getting average

The Christmas special from superstar Mohanlal to his audience is the film 'Ivide Swargamaanu'. This time, the Malayalam hulk was seen in the role of an ordinary farmer and he teams up with yet another iconic veteran Thilakan. Reports have been arriving that the film has opened to very decent response and despite the fact that there is not a single song in the entire 170 minute film, the viewers say that it has been quite engaging and thought provoking as well.

Mohanlal rejects away from small roles.

Superstar Mohanlal did a small but an important role in "Angel John". However the movie flopped at the box office. Now, Mohanlal seems to be staying away from such small roles. He was supposed to do a similar role in "Mummy and Me" but according to sources, he has dropped out. Sources indicate that the noted action star Suresh Gopi will now play that role. The makers say that this will be an interesting change if it works out.

Suresh Gopi's 'Rama Ravanan'

Based on the novel 'Manomi' of Madhavikutty, Biju Ravindran is directing `Rama Ravanan'. The story takes place in two countries; in India and Sri Lanka. Annadurai was living with family in Srilanka. When the fight between the Tamilians and Sinhalese broke out, he fled to India with his family. There he lived in Tamilnadu-Kerala border. When he was in Lanka he gave protection for a Sinhalese child named Manomi who lost her mother in the fight. After some years she reaches Annadurai's residence. But the whole family except Annadurai hated her. It was during this period Thiruchelvam, a member of LTTE reached seeking shelter in Annadurai's house. The acquaintance with Manomi led to love. Manomi and Thiruchelvam loved each other. Thiruchelvam reminded the situation that LTTE was against Sinhalese and it would affect their relationship. Other members of his gang also opposed the relationship with Manomi as he was assigned to carry out the mission. Sureshgopi play the role of Thiruchelvam, Mithra Kurian as Manomi and Nedumudi Venu as Annadurai. Other casts include Biju Menon, Vijaya Kumar, Suraj, Babu Raj, Krishana, Devan, Sona, Lena, Sudheesh, Bheeman Raghu and others. Kaithapram and Rafi Mathira wrote the lyrics. Kaithapram has scored the music. Jibu Jacob cranks the camera. Valsamma Joseph Sharja is producing the film under the banner of Ifaar International. Thenkasi, Sri Lanka and Thiruvananthapuram are the locations.

Slated to be a typical Mammootty treat for his fans, the reports have arrived that the response from the audience is its a mass entertainer. Within 3 days Chattambinaadu crosses a gross of 1.25crores from 75 theaters. The film also has the luscious long legged beauty Lakshmi Rai as the leading lady along with the talented cast of Siddique, Manoj Jayan, Vijayaraaghavan and others. Sources say that this could be hatrik superhit in the kitty of director-hero duo.

Suraj Venjaramoodu again as Hero !!

Suraj Venjaramoodu started off as a hero with the movie "Duplicate". However he went on to play comedy roles in other movies, and now is all set to play the hero again. The movie will be produced by Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathy Kalamandhir. TK Rajeev Kumar's associate Balan Menon is making his directorial debut with this one. The movie is expected to kick off in the month of January.

Aashiq Abu's next film with Jayasurya or Mammootty?

Director Aashiq Abu made a good start with the movie "Daddy Cool" which starred Mammootty in the lead. Rumours says that now he is all set for his second venture which is titled "Hangover". The movie will star Jayasuriya in the lead. But Aashiq says, "Didn't think about about this 'Hangover' yet." Also hears another rumour that his next venture is also with Megastar iteslf. Anyways we can wait for more updates about a flick from Aashiq Abu and team.

Pramani rolls from December 27th.

The shooting of the movie "Pramani" will start off from December 27th. The movie stars Mammootty and Sneha in the lead who is expected to join the sets on January 6th. This is for the third time that Sneha is acting with Mammootty in a Malayalam movie. Meanwhile, her other movie with Mammootty "Vande Mataram" which is a bilingual is still in the making. Looks like Sneha too has joined the bandwagon of heroines who have been looking towards Malayalam cinema off late.

Meera Nandan celebrates her 19th birthday.

The new and young actress Meera Nandan, who has been doing Malayalam and Tamil movies celebrated her birthday recently. It was her 19th birthday and she was in Los Angeles during the same. This was her first trip to US which was due to a stage show organized by NRIs. According to sources, the actress had a great time during the celebration. Speaking about the same, she said that her birthday was on the thanks giving day and hence a turkey was served in the hotel where she stayed in.

Sneha replaces Kavya.

According to sources Kavya Madhavan has been replaced by Sneha in the forthcoming Malayalam flick "Pramaani". Directed by B Unnikrishnan the movie stars Mammootty in the lead. The reason for the change of heroine is not yet known. The shooting of the movie is expected to start off in January and is expected to be released by summer. Sneha and Mammootty are already pairing up in Johny Antony's Superhit movie 'Thuruppugulaan' and another bilingual "Vande Mataram".
Sneha will appear as a Panchayat Secretary in this movie, who accidentally starts playing a crucial role in the life of the corrupt Panchayat President, played by Mammootty. Scripted a directed by B Unnikrishnan after his hits like ‘Madambi’ and ‘IG’, the movie is produced by B C Joshy. Playhouse will release this movie in the theatres a mid summer offering.

Jagadeesh-Mammootty rolls in March

Jagadeesh is all set to make his directorial debut soon. The shooting is scheduled to start by the second week of March. It stars Megastar Mammootty in the lead but the rest of the cast is yet to be announced. The flick which has been scripted by Jagadeesh, is expected to be a hilarious one. The movie will be produced by Ajayachandran Nair and currently, the ground work such as the title finalization, heroine and others things are being worked out

Aruvadai to ' Vande Mataram'.

Kollywood fans will vividly remember Aruvadai, which features Action King Arjun and Megastar Mammootty in the lead roles. Well, there's an update on the film. We hear that the movie is being renamed as Vande Mataram! The film, which is billed as a big-budget entertainer, is directed by T Aravind and produced by Henry. We understand that the film is slated to hit the screens by January 2010. With a new combination of Arjun and Mammootty, cinema buffs can surely expect an action treat.

James Albert scripts for a Mammootty film.

James Albert who is currently busy scripting the Mohanlal starrer 'Ividam Swargamanu' would soon pen a script for Mammootty. This would be for the next film that Shafi directs after 'Chattambinaadu'. The film would be produced by Madhavan Nair for Murali Films. James Albert had earlier scripted hit films like 'Classmates' and 'Cycle'. The Shafi - James Albert - Mammootty film is expected to reach the theatres by mid 2010.

"Manikya Kallu" makers searching for fresh faces

"Manikya Kallu" is yet another Malayalam flick in the budding superstar Prithviraj's kitty. The movie to be directed by M Mohanan is about a teacher in a village and his students. The movie requires few child artists, and according to sources, the filmmakers are in lookout for some fresh faces. The heroine of the movie is also yet to be decided. The movie will be scripted by the director himself and it is being done on an experimental basis with so many new faces, say sources.

'Oru Naal Varum' -Lal, Sreeni, Raju team again.

If reports from the film industry are to be believed, Mohanal and Sreenivasan along with Maniyanpillai Raju are back together after a long gap of about twenty years. The last time that they had united was in 1989 for the blockbuster film 'Vellanakalude Naadu'. Sreeni has finished the one line of the new film for which the trio are coming together. Titled 'Oru Naal Varum', Raju would produce this film

'Yugapurushan' January 15

The historical work of R. Sukumar, 'Yugapurushan' is scheduled to release on January 15. The movie depicts the life history of the social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. Thalaivasal Vijay dons the role of Sree Narayana Guru. Other cast includes Mammootty, Jagathy, Devan, Saikumar, Navya Nair, Kala Bhavan Mani, Kalpana, Sukumari and others. Ramachandra Babu has wielded the camera. Under the banner of AVA productions, A.V. Anoop has produced the film.

Big 'M's war on this Christmas.

It is common to see the competition between the two superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty especially during festive seasons. Similarly Christmas will see a movie each from these superstars. Megastar Mammootty starrer "Chattambinaadu" which has been directed by Shafi will hit the silver screen on Christmas eve. On the other hand Superstar Mohanlal starrer "Ivide Swargam Aanu" will be released on Christmas day. Well let us wait and watch, how the movies fare at the box office !!

Mohanlal's revelation in FM channel.

Superstar Mohanlal made a revelation recently in a FM channel. He said that it would be foolhardiness to take up a role like "Pazhassi Raja" and even if he does take it up, he will not be good in it. He felt that he won't be able to do justice to such great roles. The Superstar who is known for his humility and manners also revealed that he has done few movies which he has regretted later. Wonder, if his fans would agree that he cannot do such roles.

Dileep with Shafi.

The team of Dileep and Shafi had delivered a megahit in "Kalyana Raman" years ago. Now, according to sources, the two will team up yet again for a movie which is expected to kick off in the month of June. It will be produced by Vyshaka Rajan under and will be released during Onam. Currently Shafi is busy with "Chattambinaadu". After this movie Shafi is expected to team up with Mammootty yet again.

"Bodyguard" vs "Aagathan"

Dileep is in dilemma these days. The reason is that two of his movies "Bodyguard" and "Aagathan" are expected to be released simultaneously. While "Bodyguard" has been directed by Siddhique, "Aagathan" has been directed by Kamal. Sources indicate that Dileep is trying hard to postpone the release of "Bodyguard" to a further date. If he does succeed in doing so then the flick might be released during the month of March.
